**Apps that recover deleted WhatsApp messages fill the App Store.** So much for "delete."

Z-TEXT is a blockchain privacy messenger with no phone number, no email, no SIM. Messages are permanent on BitcoinZ, and zk-SNARKs make them unreadable to everyone but the recipient.

[**Shielded Permanence™.**](https://z-text.org/shielded-permanence/) Launching Monday, October 5.

## ❓ If messages live on a blockchain ledger, can't everyone read them?

No. The ledger is public, but Z-TEXT messages are shielded.

zk-SNARKs ([zero-knowledge proofs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-interactive%5Fzero-knowledge%5Fproof?ref=z-text.org)) confirm a message is valid without revealing sender, recipient or content. AES-256-GCM encrypts the text on the phone before it leaves.

**The proof a message exists is public. Everything else is invisible.**

See the public ledger yourself: [explorer.getbtcz.com](https://explorer.getbtcz.com/?ref=z-text.org)

Same zk-SNARKs technology as Zcash ([Sapling protocol, Electric Coin Co.](https://electriccoin.co/blog/sapling/?ref=z-text.org)), running on the [BitcoinZ](https://getbtcz.com/?ref=z-text.org) ledger.

## ❓ If a deleted WhatsApp message can be recovered, what does "delete" really protect?

Nothing you can count on.

"Delete" usually just hides the message and marks the space as free. Until it's overwritten, the data is still there, on the drive, in the phone, in the app's database. Recovery tools exist for exactly that.

And the other person still has their copy, their backups, their screenshots.

**You can delete your copy. You can't delete theirs.**

Z-TEXT never promises deletion. zk-SNARKs make the blockchain copy unreadable from the moment it's sent.

**Disappearing is surrender, not security.**

## ❓ Encrypted, deleted, permanent: what's the difference?

Encrypted
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Locked, but the box still exists and someone holds the key.
Deleted
Hidden, often recoverable.
Shielded Permanence™
The message stays forever on the BitcoinZ ledger, and zk-SNARKs hide who, to whom and what. Nothing to recover, because nothing readable was ever exposed.

## ❓ Can I check it myself?

Yes. Here is a real shielded Z-TEXT transaction on the BitcoinZ ledger: the explorer confirms it exists, but shows sender and recipient as **private**.

Verify it live: [explorer.getbtcz.com, TX 46fea9f91c…01f1fbc7a2](https://explorer.getbtcz.com/?ref=z-text.org#/tx/46fea9f91c84675226d71f1030c056e692330f7928344a2d02681f01f1fbc7a2)

**Believe what you see.**

## ❓ If no one can erase a message, isn't that dangerous?

No, because no one can read it either. Permanent doesn't mean exposed.

What you control is your phone:

- **Stealth mode** hides Z-TEXT behind a working calculator, "Calculator Pro." Only your secret sum opens it.
- **The panic PIN** wipes the app from the device in one move: keys, seed and history.

Your 24 recovery words bring everything back on a new phone, because the messages were never stored on the phone alone.

**Lose the phone. Keep the conversation.**

## ❓ If my identity is disposable, why is the message permanent?

Because they solve two different problems.

A **disposable identity** is a fresh Z-TEXT identity, with its own 24 words, for a short-term contact. $3, no phone number. When you remove its key, that identity is gone from your phone.

The **message** stays on the blockchain, shielded and unreadable. Z-TEXT never pretends to erase it.

**The identity is disposable. The content is never deleted, just never readable.**

## ❓ Which messaging app works without a phone number?

Very few. In September 2026, Signal started testing phone-free sign-up in its Android beta, for a one-time $2.99 fee ([Privacy Guides](https://www.privacyguides.org/news/2026/09/16/signal-enables-phone-number-less-registration-in-beta/?ref=z-text.org)).

Z-TEXT was built without a phone number from day one: no phone, no email, no SIM, no KYC. Your identity is a 24-word seed phrase (also called a mnemonic), nothing else.

## ❓ Where do your messages actually live?

WhatsApp

## 🧭 What this means for you

Z-TEXT isn't just a messenger. It's a censorship-resistant communication layer where:

- **Your identity** is your seed phrase, not your phone number
- **Your messages** are shielded on-chain, permanent and unreadable
- **Your metadata** is never collected, by design
- **Your key exchange** is quantum-resistant (ML-KEM-768)
- **Your audience** follows you through Channels, on-chain
- **Your app** can hide behind a calculator

A fundamentally different model from Signal, Telegram or any centralized platform.

## ❓ Where can I get Z-TEXT?

- **From Monday, October 5:** direct download at [z-text.com/downloads](https://z-text.com/downloads?ref=z-text.org), for Android, macOS, Windows and Linux
- **Safe by design:** each file comes with a SHA-256 checksum, so you can verify nobody altered it
- **Only from z-text.com:** copies on other sites can be tampered with
- **App stores:** coming later. iOS is on its way to the App Store.

## ❓ How much does it cost?

- **Reading is free.** No license needed.
- **License code from $3 for one month:** messaging, password manager, Channels, disposable identities ([z-text.com/packages](https://z-text.com/packages?ref=z-text.org))
- **Fuel included ⛽:** when you activate your license code, Z-TEXT sends BTCZ straight to your shielded wallet address. That's the fuel for your messages.
- **Privacy for a fraction of a cent:** every zk-SNARKs-shielded message costs a BitcoinZ network fee of a fraction of a cent

---

**Real privacy isn't a promise or an ideology. It's math: zk-SNARKs.**
