也許你去了台灣、香港、新加坡、法國、加拿大、澳大利亞。也許你是第二代、第三代移民。也許你從未在中國生活過，卻因為文化的連結而下載了微信、QQ、抖音、LINE。
你以為你已經自由了。
但是你的手機還有一扇門是開著的。
You left.
Maybe you went to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Canada, Australia. Maybe you are second or third generation. Maybe you never lived in China at all — but downloaded WeChat, QQ, TikTok, LINE because of cultural ties.
You thought you were free.
But your phone still has a door that is open.
中國的每一個主要社交媒體和通訊平台，都在中國法律的管轄之下。依據《國家情報法》，任何中國公司在任何時候都必須配合政府的數據調取要求——無需理由，無需授權，無需告知用戶。
這不是理論上的風險。這已經發生了：
一個山西男人在微信上轉發了一段視頻，被判刑十個月。中國工程師秘密訪問了LINE日本用戶的數據長達三年。TikTok的工程師用「神憑證」追蹤了香港的活動人士。微博強制公開每一條帖子的地理位置，並由700名審查員全天候監控。小紅書禁用了546個習近平的綽號，並將你的數據同時發送給騰訊、阿里巴巴、字節跳動、Facebook和Google。
這些不是你選擇使用的工具。這些是你攜帶在口袋裡的監控設備。
Every major Chinese social media and messaging platform falls under Chinese law. Under the National Intelligence Law, any Chinese company must comply with government data demands at any time — no reason required, no warrant, no notification to users.
This is not theoretical risk. It has already happened:
A man in Shanxi forwarded a video on WeChat and was sentenced to ten months. Chinese engineers secretly accessed LINE Japan users' data for three years. TikTok engineers used a "god credential" to track Hong Kong activists. Weibo forces location disclosure on every post and monitors with 700 censors around the clock. Xiaohongshu banned 546 nicknames for Xi Jinping and sends your data to Tencent, Alibaba, ByteDance, Facebook and Google simultaneously.
These are not tools you chose to use. These are surveillance devices you carry in your pocket.

在中國境內的人已經習慣了被監控，甚至發展出了應對審查的生存技巧——用諧音字、用表情包、用隱語。他們知道紅線在哪裡。
海外華人往往沒有這種警覺。你以為距離帶來了安全。你在LINE上和家人討論政治。你在微博上分享對中共的批評。你在微信上傳送支持台灣的文章。你以為這些只是家人朋友之間的私人對話。
但是：中共追蹤了香港活動人士在海外的通訊。加拿大情報機構發現微信被用於針對加拿大選舉的信息操作。無國界記者組織警告LINE的中國數據存儲對台灣記者的特殊風險。
你在海外的自由發言，可能正在傷害你在中國的家人。你的數據正在跨越你離開的邊境，回到你試圖逃離的地方。
People inside China have adapted to surveillance — developed survival skills for navigating censorship using homophones, memes, coded language. They know where the red lines are.
Overseas Chinese often lack this vigilance. You believe distance brings safety. You discuss politics with family on LINE. You share criticism of the CCP on Weibo. You send pro-Taiwan articles on WeChat. You think these are private conversations between family and friends.
But: the CCP tracked Hong Kong activists' overseas communications. Canadian intelligence found WeChat was used for information operations targeting Canadian elections. Reporters Without Borders warned of LINE's Chinese data storage posing special risks for Taiwan journalists.
Your free speech overseas may be harming your family in China. Your data is crossing the border you left — returning to the place you tried to escape.
有人會說：「我沒有做任何違法的事，我不需要隱私。」
這個邏輯的問題在於：在不同的政治體制下，「違法」的定義是不同的。在中國，批評習近平是「尋釁滋事」。支持香港民主是「分裂國家」。在LINE上轉發一篇關於天安門的文章，可能讓你在下次回國時面臨審查。
你不需要向任何人解釋為什麼你想要隱私。你關上浴室的門不需要解釋。你用信封而不是明信片不需要解釋。你在窗戶上拉上窗簾不需要解釋。
隱私是人的基本尊嚴，不是秘密活動的掩護。真正需要解釋的，是為什麼億萬個平台需要知道你和誰說話、說了什麼、在哪裡說的。
Some will say: "I have nothing to hide, I don't need privacy."
The problem with this logic: the definition of "illegal" differs between political systems. In China, criticising Xi Jinping is "picking quarrels." Supporting Hong Kong democracy is "splitting the nation." Forwarding a Tiananmen article on LINE might mean scrutiny when you next return.
You do not need to explain to anyone why you want privacy. You close the bathroom door without explanation. You use an envelope rather than a postcard without explanation. You close your curtains without explanation.
Privacy is a fundamental human dignity — not a cover for secret activity. What truly requires explanation is why billions of platforms need to know who you talk to, what you say, and where you say it.
