Q-Day Ready: The BitcoinZ Quantum Readiness Plan
A free, open proposal from Z-TEXT for the BitcoinZ community. Small, cheap steps first, no fork to start. Then the big upgrade. Quantum-resistant, never quantum-proof.

Z-TEXT is a private messaging app built on the BitcoinZ blockchain. No phone number, no email, no SIM. Today Z-TEXT publishes a free proposal for the whole BitcoinZ community: Q-Day Ready, the BitcoinZ Quantum Readiness Plan.
In short
Q-Day is the day a quantum computer can break today's wallet math. On October 21, 2026, a classic bug already let an attacker print 105 billion fake BTCZ. Q-Day Ready proposes five phases: cheap fixes with no fork first, quantum-resistant coin signatures last. Nothing is funded yet. Z-TEXT shares the design for free.
❓ 1. What is Q-Day?
Q-Day is the day a large quantum computer can break the math that protects most crypto wallets today.
Nobody knows when Q-Day comes. Every serious blockchain is preparing for it.
Mini-resume: Q-Day is the future day a quantum computer breaks the cryptography behind most crypto wallets. Its date is unknown, so blockchains prepare now.
❓ 2. Why does BitcoinZ need a plan now?
On October 21, 2026, an attacker created 105 billion fake BTCZ in block 1,860,181. That's five times the 21 billion maximum supply.
The attack wasn't quantum. It used a classic bug.
That's the warning.
If a classic bug could do this, a future quantum computer could too. Honestly, we think waiting would be the real risk.
Mini-resume: The October 21, 2026 BitcoinZ attack created 105 billion fake BTCZ with a classic bug, not a quantum one. It showed BitcoinZ must harden now, before Q-Day.
❓ 3. What does Q-Day Ready propose?
Small, cheap steps first. No fork to start. The big upgrade last.
Phase 1 · Quick wins · No fork
Wallet hygiene guide, fresh t-address after each shield, public supply page, bridge safety settings.
Phase 2 · Small builds · No fork
Independent supply monitor with alerts, Mailbox + Vault wallets, bridge supply check.
Phase 3 · Fix the foundations · Consensus release
Sapling turnstile overflow fix, independent code audit.
Phase 4 · Harden · No fork
Proof re-checker, incident drills, bug bounty.
Phase 5 · The big upgrade · Soft or hard fork
Quantum-resistant signatures for BTCZ coins.
Mini-resume: Q-Day Ready has five phases. Phases 1, 2 and 4 need no fork. Phase 3 is a consensus fix. Phase 5 adds quantum-resistant signatures for BitcoinZ coins.
❓ 4. What does Z-TEXT already protect?
Z-TEXT message encryption uses hybrid X25519 + ML-KEM-768. ML-KEM is the NIST post-quantum key exchange standard, FIPS 203. It's live in Z-TEXT since version 3.7.0 beta.
But Z-TEXT message signatures are still classical Ed25519. And BitcoinZ coins themselves are outside Z-TEXT's scope. (Yes, we'd love to say more. We won't claim what isn't built.)
Mini-resume: Z-TEXT encrypts message text with quantum-resistant ML-KEM-768 since version 3.7.0 beta. Z-TEXT signatures remain classical Ed25519, and BTCZ coins need the community plan.
❓ 5. Who needs to help?
Wallet developers, mining pools, bridge operators, exchanges, BitcoinZ core developers, security reviewers and holders. If you hold BTCZ, this plan is about your coins.
Mini-resume: Q-Day Ready needs the whole BitcoinZ community: developers, pools, bridges, exchanges, reviewers and holders.
❓ 6. Is Q-Day Ready funded or scheduled?
No. Q-Day Ready is a proposal for discussion, not a promise. Each step needs a builder and a funder. Z-TEXT shares the research and the design for free.
Mini-resume: Q-Day Ready is not funded or scheduled. It's an open proposal, and Z-TEXT gives the design away free.
