BitcoinZ supports two address types. **T-addresses (transparent)** work like standard Bitcoin addresses — visible on the public blockchain, useful for public transactions. **Z-addresses (shielded)** use [zk-SNARKs zero-knowledge proofs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-interactive%5Fzero-knowledge%5Fproof?ref=z-text.org) to hide the sender, receiver, and amount.
