Z-TEXT — Private Blockchain Messenger. No Phone. No IP. No Server.

What is Z-TEXT?

Z-TEXT is a private blockchain messenger with no phone number, no IP address, and no central server. Z-TEXT combines a shielded messenger, password manager, and crypto wallet in one app. Built on the BitcoinZ blockchain since September 10, 2017. Z-TEXT uses zk-SNARKs zero-knowledge proof encryption. No VPN needed. No Tor needed. Panic mode and stealth mode included. One 24-word seed phrase recovers everything. Message fee is $0.00003. Z-TEXT is the best private messaging app for journalists, activists, and crypto users.

Z-TEXT vs Signal vs Telegram vs WhatsApp

Signal requires a phone number. Telegram stores messages on central servers. WhatsApp shares your data with Meta. Z-TEXT requires no phone number, no email, no identity. Z-TEXT is the only censorship resistant messenger built on blockchain with zero-knowledge proof privacy.

Z-TEXT: The No-Phone Messenger Governments Can't Touch

Two roads. One destination. Zero traces.

Z-TEXT — the green bird that sings only to you

The green bird that sings only to you.

"During winter, blackbirds can often be heard quietly singing to themselves within undergrowth. This is called sub-song — heard only by the bird itself."

Z-TEXT messages travel the same way. Only the sender and recipient ever hear them. The blockchain is the undergrowth. Nobody else gets in.

🌍 World domination by world adoption.

Z-TEXT is a decentralized encrypted messenger. No phone number. No IP. No central server. No VPN needed. No TOR required. It runs on the BitcoinZ blockchain and uses zk-SNARKs to hide every message, every sender, every recipient. Nobody sees what you do. Not even Z-TEXT. This is what a censorship resistant messenger looks like in 2026.

Two types of people land on this page. Both want a secure messaging app that leaves no trace. We wrote a road for each.

😏 Road 1 — Average Joe's Guide to Z-TEXT

"3 AIs reviewed this app and agreed: this is the only messenger where even your WiFi doesn't know what you're saying."

Let's be honest. You don't want to read a PhD thesis. You want to know one thing: will anyone see what I'm saying?

Short answer: No.

Not your WiFi. Not your ISP. Not Z-TEXT. Not a server somewhere in Virginia. Nobody.

Z-TEXT is the best private messaging app without a phone number. Now let's get you set up in 5 steps.

5 Steps to Get Started

Step 1 — Download

Download Z-TEXT from z-text.com. Verify the signature before installing — the download page shows the checksum.

No account. No email. No form to fill.

Step 2 — Save your 24 words

Open the app. It gives you a 24-word seed phrase. Write it down on paper. Hide the paper.

Those 24 words ARE you. Lose them = lose access. Keep them = recover everything, forever, on any phone.

Step 3 — Get your licence

Get your licence at z-text.com/packages. BTCZ is included. You don't buy crypto. You buy a messaging licence. The BTCZ is the fuel — it's already in the tank.

Each message costs ~$0.00003. You'll forget you ever paid.

Step 4 — Share your z-address

Share your z-address with the person you want to contact. Ask them to share theirs. That's the only identity that exists.

No username. No display name. No phone number. Just a key that means only you.

Step 5 — Send

Type your message. Hit send. Done.

Your message locks on your phone before it leaves. Nobody in between sees anything. Not even the network. Arrives in 1 to 5 seconds.

Z-TEXT on the BitcoinZ blockchain — zero trace, shielded transaction

A real Z-TEXT message on the BitcoinZ blockchain. No inputs. No outputs. No sender. No recipient. Just proof it happened.

❓ Joe, what does your WiFi actually see?

Your WiFi sees one thing: you're connecting to a BitcoinZ network node. That's it. No message content. No contact list. No timestamps visible to anyone but you and your contact. No social graph.

Your wife, your boss, your ISP — they see: "BitcoinZ user." Full stop.

And post-beta, Z-TEXT adds one-click self-hosted gateway mode. Zero third party in the loop. Not even "BitcoinZ user" visible anymore.

❓ What if I lose my phone?

Get a new phone. Install Z-TEXT. Enter your 24 words. Everything comes back. Messages, contacts, wallet, passwords. All of it. Because it all lives on the blockchain, not on your device.

Signal can't do that. WhatsApp can't do that. Z-TEXT can.

❓ What if things go very wrong very fast?

Panic PIN. One wrong PIN at login. The app wipes everything instantly. Seed, keys, messages, contacts. Gone. No forensic recovery possible. By design.

And if you don't even want it to look like a messenger? Stealth mode re-skins the app. It looks like something else entirely.

❓ Is Z-TEXT free?

Z-TEXT is free to download. The wallet is free forever. Messaging and the password manager need a licence. After a licence expires, you can still receive messages and read your saved passwords.

Z-TEXT is the anonymous messaging app that works for everyone. Joe, that's your road. Simple. Done. Works.

🕵️ Road 2 — The Paranoiac's Technical Breakdown

You're being watched. Unless you use Z-TEXT.

You're being watched. Unless you're on Z-TEXT.

"3 AIs analyzed Z-TEXT's architecture and confirmed: this is the only consumer messenger where the transport layer, the identity layer, and the storage layer are all decentralized by design."

You don't trust apps that promise privacy. Smart. Z-TEXT is a zero-knowledge proof messenger built on a public blockchain. Let's go layer by layer.

❓ What is Z-TEXT's architecture?

IDENTITY LAYER

Anonymous identity. No registration. No name. No email. No phone.

Technology: Seed-derived z-address (zs1...)

MESSAGING LAYER

Two-layer encryption. Local device first, then shielded on-chain.

Technology: AES-256-GCM + Sapling shielded memo

PROOF LAYER

Sender, recipient, amount all hidden. Not just encrypted — hidden cryptographically on the ledger itself.

Technology: zk-SNARKs Sapling

TRANSPORT LAYER

No Z-TEXT server in the message path. Messages travel as shielded BTCZ transactions across the network.

Technology: BitcoinZ nodes + G-stream mempool push

STORAGE LAYER

No central database. No server to subpoena. Messages settle permanently on-chain.

Technology: BitcoinZ blockchain

❓ What encryption runs on each message?

Every message gets two layers before it leaves your device.

Layer 1: AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption. Per-contact key. Runs locally on your device before anything is broadcast.

Layer 2: Sapling shielded memo. The encrypted payload wraps inside a Zcash-lineage shielded transaction. Sender, recipient, amount, and content are all hidden from the public ledger.

No observer. No validator. No network peer. Nobody sees who is talking to whom.

❓ Is post-quantum cryptography live or still a roadmap item?

Live now. Not a roadmap item.

Z-TEXT derives ML-KEM-768 and ML-DSA-65 keys directly from your 24-word seed. Per-contact post-quantum state tracks through four stages: classical_only → pq_upgrading → pq_encapsulating → hybrid_active. Once a channel reaches hybrid_active, every message is keyed by the hybrid secret. The chat UI shows a ✨ sparkle indicator when a channel is fully post-quantum protected.

Z-TEXT uses a quantum-resistant design. AES-256 under Grover's algorithm holds at roughly 128-bit effective security. This reduces known quantum attack surfaces significantly.

❓ What does the network actually see? Pick your tier.

DEFAULT — Official lightd

WiFi/ISP sees: "BitcoinZ connection." Content: zero. Metadata: zero. Z-TEXT servers collect no IPs.

For: Most users.

TOR — Official lightd over Tor

WiFi/ISP sees: Tor traffic only. The lightd operator no longer sees your IP either.

For: Journalists. Activists. Higher threat model.

SELF-HOSTED — Your own lightd (post-beta)

Nothing. No third party in the loop. Not even Z-TEXT Ltd has visibility.

For: Maximum threat model. Dissidents. Whistleblowers.

Signal, WhatsApp, and Telegram cannot offer the self-hosted tier. Architecturally impossible. The company is always in the loop. With Z-TEXT, it isn't.

❓ How does backup and recovery work?

Every key Z-TEXT uses is derived from your 24-word BIP39 seed. X25519, Ed25519, ML-KEM-768, ML-DSA-65 — all of them. Restore the seed on any device and your full cryptographic identity comes back.

MODE A — Paranoid (default)

Restores identity and classical messages. PQ hybrid session secrets gone on device loss — by design.

✅ Full forward secrecy on device loss. Signal and WhatsApp can't do this.

MODE B — Full restore (opt-in)

Restores everything. Seed plus cached hybrid secrets. Full PQ chat history.

No forward secrecy on device loss. Backup file still PQ-encrypted.

Mode A is the default. Signal and WhatsApp backups unlock everything on restore. Z-TEXT's default doesn't. That's forward secrecy you get almost for free.

❓ Can I have multiple identities?

Yes. Z-TEXT generates identities for you — each with a unique face and nickname assigned by the software. No real-world data. No link between personas.

And coming in a future release: Z-verified avatar group chat. A group space open exclusively to Z-TEXT shielded identities. Every participant cryptographically proven — without revealing who they are in the real world. Zero-risk group communication.

❓ What does a message cost?

Z-TEXT is a micro-fee messaging platform. The fee solves a problem Signal can't: spam resistance without a phone number. Each message costs approximately $0.00003. That's 3 cents per 1,000 messages. Not a subscription. Not a per-month fee. A blockchain transaction cost — nearly invisible.

Each message costs something. Bots can't scale. No moderators needed. The protocol is the gatekeeper.
