The First Real Blockchain Messenger
The First Real
Blockchain Messenger
Everyone claims to be decentralised. Z-Text actually is. Messages don't pass through a server owned by a company with a legal address. They settle on a blockchain that's been running since 2017 and has never been seized, never gone dark.
BitcoinZ Genesis Block
Fair launch. No premine. No ICO. Community-driven from day one. The blockchain Z-Text is built on has never had a controller, a CEO, or a kill switch. Learn why BTCZ is different →
zk-SNARKs Shielding From Launch
BitcoinZ supported zero-knowledge shielded transactions from its genesis. Not added later. Not bolted on. Native from birth.
Z-Text: First Messenger on BTCZ
Z-Text is the first application to use BTCZ's shielded transaction layer as a decentralised messaging protocol. Your messages are shielded transactions. The blockchain is your inbox.
What does "blockchain messenger" actually mean in practice?
When you send a message on Z-Text, it's encrypted locally on your device and broadcast as a shielded transaction on the BitcoinZ network. It isn't stored on a company's server. It settles on-chain — permanently, decentrally, and without any party having the ability to delete, intercept, or block it. Your message is as permanent as the blockchain itself.
Why does the age of the blockchain matter?
Because any blockchain can claim reliability. BitcoinZ has proved it — running since 2017 with no corporate backing, no venture capital, and no kill switch. Markets crashed, governments cracked down, competitors disappeared. BTCZ kept producing blocks. That's not a promise — that's a track record.
How is this different from Session or Briar?
Session uses a network of service nodes — still a defined infrastructure that can be targeted. Briar uses Tor — which has known timing analysis vulnerabilities. Z-Text messages are hidden inside zk-SNARKs shielded transactions on a blockchain, meaning metadata — sender, receiver, timing, amount — is cryptographically hidden, not just routed carefully. Zero-knowledge proofs are a fundamentally different class of privacy.
Can I recover all my messages if I lose my device?
Yes. Because messages live on the blockchain, restoring your 24-word seed phrase on any new device triggers a blockchain rescan that recovers your full message history, contacts, and vault data. No cloud backup. No company holding your data. Just mathematics and a chain that never forgets.

What does it cost to send a message on Z-Text?
Around $0.00003 per message at current BTCZ network fees. That's essentially free for a human. It's expensive enough for a bot trying to send millions of spam messages. This is how on-chain economic spam resistance works — the protocol itself is the gatekeeper, not a moderation team, not an algorithm, not a company policy that can change tomorrow.
